My sister visited last week and while she was here, went to see my mum's massage therapist. The nice little asian woman pronounce that her 'Qi was blocked' and proceeded to massage her digestive tract.

I feel that maybe my Qi is blocked - not intestine-ly but that I've allowed things to become stagnant. Then today I saw THIS and found it rather inspiring.

So I am launching 30 Days of Qi, wherein i am incredibly busy and productive. I have not figured it all out but I think that if I incorporate an activity a day - whether it be bicycling, walking, eating something new, cleaning out the kitchen cupboards, these will all contribute to my energy level.

So here goes.........

ready or not.......

i have been reevaluating my health/food choices this week. not sure what has pushed me to this edge but i suppose it may have something to do with the sleeplessness, the exhaustion and all the chiropractor visits of late. i found some recent posts by mighty girl to be especially motivating in my determination to fix things.

as an experiment i cut out meat this week and have added a glass of fresh carrot, orange and apple juice to my morning schedule.

sooo the dress was a disaster, not lovely and simple on me at all. i looked like a chubby reject from a midsummers night tale. and not a charming chubby reject either. so i have ordered afresh. below are the two options. the first because i am in love with it and must try it on in person despite the fact it will probably look horrifying and the second because i think it may actually fit.
Option 1: Nordstrom (possibly arriving today, O how i love you Nordstrom, let me count the ways...) YAY

Option 2: JCrew... (Possibly arriving ANYTIME since the tracking they provide is substandard)

Both seem a bit short but mrs Locoweed assures me that models are 6' tall and i'm not so the dress may in fact be longer than it appears...
Option 1 is 35" shoulder to hem

i spent a little while browsing whilst talking with mrs locoweed on the phone and we both agreed Nordstrom has some very nice options and affordable, which is important in a dress you may only wear what twice/three times? once to wedding and maybe twice to separate reception/parties? so any thoughts??
Option 1- I like the length and it seems attractive yet comfortable.

Option 2 - i love the neckline but the bust area may be less appealing in person.. maybe too boob-ed?

and this is just cute.....

i would really like some sort of silvery grey color but didn't find anything.

I started this blog in December of 2005, and one of the things I like most about it is the jog it gives to my increasingly rusty memory. I can actually match up events and the time frame involved, an amazing feat for me. This last year I have been very remiss in updating anything. Mrs Locoweed tells me it's because I'm too busy having a life to talk about it, and she's probably right (*grumble, grumble* O how i hate to admit when she's right)
So let me list a few things that made me smile recently that I haven't mentioned:

wearing my new Teva Boots with purple tights
accidentally getting the Lunar Eclipse time wrong and spending ALOT of time on top of Pillar Mt. late thursday night waiting for it and being spontaneously danced around to the gayest Enrique Iglesias song EVER

seeing someone driving down the road today with an extremely happy, very orange cat laying stretched out on the dashboard in front of the driver

my sister has said i need to update my blog. she is right and hopefully less miserable feeling then yesterday when i left anchorage.

there was much good food, many good drinks, exciting friends to be seen and i even fit in a movie (which i loved, several tolerated and one left in search of something more exciting to watch.) seems like the mixed reaction is common. it is not a joyously happy movie which is probably why some were disappointed - and why i liked it. it was fascinatingly gripping and i look forward to taking my mum.

mrs locoweed / wicked bad called to ask if i was still alive and i realized how silent things have been. Let me rephrase that - how silent i have been, things have been quite loud. namely: karaoke last night at smith's. very. loud. and i got beaned in the head with a stereo speaker that one of the twins knocked over onto me.

tag's sister was in town for a few very short days (we went to the pound and petted a kitten but sadly could not talk him into getting one, plotted an elaborate practical joke but need to locate a pregnant woman to execute its brilliance.... maybe he shouldn't let us hang out together) and then she left and tag got a house to rent friday night (which involved a wee bit of cleaning) right before his parents showed up saturday and maximilian gave his 1st talk on Sunday.
so my week: bad head cold followed by fun, followed by awkward i-think-it-went-ok-ness, followed by relief that max did good.....

it was a kick-ass weekend,
Friday: there was awesomely sunny deck-sitting (why can't that be an olympic sport? i could so totally win) with yummy beverages and good company.
Saturday: was treated to lunch of an excellent sandwich (with craisins and sugared pecans and every good thing), mum made really good pizza on the grill & i went to see Land of the Lost with Griskus.
Sunday: had excellent lunch in the Flats with friends, went on a very hilarious hiking expedition with a whole passel of people that turned into an-all-the-rest-of-the-day-event.

was good.

somehow i managed today on a certain level just fine. i worked til 2:00, laid in the sun with mrs locoweed, her mum and the assorted kiddies, went to wal-mart to look at rafts for the lake. i've found it's all about staying busy, preferably in a crowd of people. then came my critical error. about 4:00 i went home.... and there was no one there. the mum was not laying on the porch where i had expected her to be. the house was quiet. i laid in the sun in all that quiet and it happened, the thing i'd been fighting against all day.
i got blisteringly mad

on the upside: my tan is coming along very nicely

Blogger has been giving me fits for days - so here goes nothing...
the weekend was excellent involving sunshine, hiking, picnics, and lake dipping.

i finished The Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World and have now passed it on for tag to read. it was completely absorbing, to the point that i think i want to read it again. the author traveled to several places i would like to go (Thailand, Iceland, India) and some locations i'm not in that much of a hurry about (Switzerland, Qatar) and it was surprising which locations made for more interesting read. the India trip came off a little boring - weird, no? anyway, was awesome book. don't be surprised if i start lending it to everyone i meet.

over at Mighty Girl, Maggie Mason posted a mighty life list some time ago with 100 things she wanted to do (i'm not even sure what i want to be doing next week, hmm....) and now has had the very awesome luck of Intel sponsoring her list - to the extent they asked her to pick 10 things to do in the next three months.

Epic 'Espace' (Budget Edition) Remodel 09 started out strong Monday.

Hallway view today:The search for a cheap (ie: free) flooring option is ongoing. The old linoleum is especially gruesome since each room had its own separate piece. Pulling up the old vinyl is a nonstarter. It is very much permanently stuck to the plywood underneath (i know this from a previous ill-fated attempt to rid myself of the hideous multi-colored-with-glitter-starburst-patterned piece in one of the rooms).
my father is still speaking to me, i persuaded him that sheetrocking the upstairs was not very practical right now and he talked me out of buying epoxy garage paint for experiments in overcoating the floor.
i'd say, so far, Epic 'Espace' (Budget Edition) Remodel 09 is a success.

there was much sitting around a campfire that took place over the weekend but that has been usurped by other breaking news: Epic Remodel '09.
i gently brought up my lack of 'espace' over dinner (i think the term i used to describe my rooms was 'rabbit warren'). you know, as a preliminary hearing to prompt further negotiations. i apparently misjudged my father's desire for a project because dinner was almost aborted. scouting trips upstairs commenced, the tape measure was very much in appearance and finally it was pronounced 'possible'. i did have to talk him into waiting til tomorrow to begin tearing out walls so i could pack up my things.....
of course, by late tomorrow night he will probably be cursing the day he gave me life.

i get tired of being allergic to EVERYTHING. mascara is out of the picture again as of last night. i was desperate enough that yes, locoweed, i finally tried putting neosporin into my eyes this morning and yes, it did actually feel better. I was not excited about the kindle, I like everything about books. Then I discovered a kindle app for my itouch and thought why not?- you know - just because. Now I think the thing is all kinds of brilliant. So far I have only sent the samples to my touch for a trial run (it's basically the first few pages), but I think if you're anything like me (and hopefully you're not) and rate your vacation by the number of books you read while lying in the sun drinking a cool alcoholic beverage, this will definitely free up your luggage. My only complaint is that the kindle versions of new releases at Amazon are still $9.99. Why so much? Especially when it is not something you can put on your shelf and keep FOREVER or trade away for credit if you don't care for it. They should give you options: you know like bundling.
Amazon, are you listening?

Also I have been dinking around looking for new songs. I found the KEXP Song of the Day podcast on itunes. Really quite brilliant. Does XM Radio have something similar?

* Yarn weight, pattern said dk but my dk...nothing like
* Needle size #3 for ribbing, #5 for body
C.O 224 and did not increase or decrease throughout body until bust line - incorporated increased stitches into cable pattern under arm. I did not decrease the amount listed up and around arm holes, instead incorporated decrease stitches inside the purl stitches in main rib pattern. Picked up collar stitches (and did not count number of stitches picked up, due to extreme laziness) with #3 needle knit in k1, p1 rib for 1/2" and then increased k f&b in every 5th stitch. Thoughts: LOVE this yarn but after washing it does not hold shape like usual wool. This led to my re-doing the collar multiple times. And when I say multiple, I mean multiple.

Have you ever checked out the world clock?
I'm not sure how I ended up there today but I like to walk home, unplug all my appliances, and crawl into bed with the covers over my head.
On a happier note my steel tunic will hopefully be done this evening. The delay involves my thinking I was smarter than the pattern and reknitting the collar 5 times. Come to find out: I really am not very smart at all.

Completely unrelated to this, I am being drawn to grey of late. This is my steel tunic in progress (the pattern is coffee tunic, [ravelry link] but mine is grey). Doesn't this look like a cloudy winter sky with an eagle? It is actually my kitchen window pane with a fresh coat of ice. Wee bit cold lately.
